Another review of an AST Sports Science product. I have not had good luck with their other products when it comes to flavor. They generally look awesome from the outside, but when it comes to actually mixing them up and tasting them, improvement is definitely necessary. This review is for a Whey Isolate product VP2.
VP2 looks awesome from the package info. It is a whey isolate. In short, they claim this is a super pure hydrolyzed whey isolate protein. It also contains Aminogen for fast absorption.
Each scoop: 100 calories 0 fat 0 sugar 23 grams protein
So, a whey isolate that is super pure, has 23 grams of protein per serving, 0 fat and 0 sugar.... SWEET. Looks great from the package..... NOT SO FAST
I followed the directions and mixed 1 serving with 8 oz. of my favorite beverage (water). The package stated that I only needed to shake or stir a couple of times as the powder would "rapidly dissolve." I did not find this to be true. After a couple shakes, I still had clumps. I shook some more, and still clumpy. I shook even more and STILL CLUMPY. The end result was that the citrus Splash flavor actually had decent taste, but it mixed terribly. I was eating it, rather than drinking.
Yet again, I am disappointed with the flavor/mixability of an AST Sports Science product. Hopefully they can address these issues, because the contents of their products are actually intriguing to me. But as of now, I would not purchase VP2 or AR-5.
