It seems the trend for supplement companies today is to break into the preworkout supplement market. Everywhere you look we see new powders popping up claiming to provide the most energy, biggest pump and unparalleled focus. I'll admit, I love me some pre-workout powder! However, once you get past the rush of energy, you have to ask yourself what is really going on when I take this? The answer is probably a N.O. boost (Nitric Oxide).

What is Nitric Oxide?

Nicrix Oxide (N.O.) is a molecule that is found all throughout the body and is involved in many bodily functions. Most importantly, Nitric Oxide is involved in muscle building through the effect it has on the dilation of blood vessels. When you take a Nitric Oxide supplement your blood vessels will increase in diameter which will allow more blood to flow to your muscles, which results in more oxygen, nutrients and anabolic hormones also being delivered to your muscles. This increased flow of oxygen, nutrients and hormones will ultimately to lead to a bigger pump, more energy and better growth and recovery.

Most NO supplements do not contain any nitric oxide but provide N.O. precursors like arginine and critulline as well as other ingredients that aid in the conversion to N.O.

When to Take a Nitric Oxide Booster

You should consume a N.O. booster that contains an N.O. precursor such as 3-5g of L-arginine about 30 to 60 minutes before you workout.
