Here's my reivew of Syn Matrix 6:5 from Champion Performance. This is a post workout product that is unlike other post workout products I have seen. The main premise behind Syn Matrix is the inclusion of a 6:5 ration of Whey Protein Isolate to Leucine. With 6 grams of whey protein isolate and 5 grams of leucine, research suggests that Syn Matrix supports equivalent muscle synthesis when compared to a traditional whey protein isolate supplement. Add to this that Syn Matrix also includes HICA (Alpha-Hydroxy-Isocaproic- Acid), L-Carnitine L-Tartrate, and Black Pepper Extract, and you've got yourself a muscle building, anti-catabolic formula.

So from the package label, the product looks like a good post workout product. All that remained was the taste, and mixability.
I had the Guilty Passion (Mango Passion Fruit) flavor for this review. The flavor was pretty solid. The taste pretty much matched the name. It tasted like a hawaiian fruit punch with the mango flavor being the strongest, and maybe a hint of a kiwi type flavor. It mixed up pretty well and I was not left with any clumpage.

Overall, this appears to be a good post workout product. There have been studies that have shown that 1.5g of HICA daily can contribute to increased muscle mass. So that is a good thing. Also, I typically end up adding some whey protein to most post workout products I have used in the past, but with Syn Matrix 6:5 that would no longer be necessary because Champion Performance has already taken care of that for me :)

Excerpt from Champion Performance on their product Syn Matrix 6:5.....

A recent study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that consuming a single concentrated dosage of 6 grams of Whey Protein Isolate with 5 grams of Leucine triggered the same amount of muscle synthesis as a traditional supplementation of Whey Protein Isolate by itself.* The 6:5 blend also showed superior muscle synthesis compared to a similar blend that contained 6 grams of WPI and 5 grams of branch chain amino acids (BCAA's). These BCAA's were a blend of Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine in a 2:1:1 ratio. When it comes to muscle synthesis, it's the Leucine that acts as the magic bullet.
