If you struggle with food and keeping the pounds off odds are you have a few bad habits that keep you from reaching your full potential. The list below are some common habits that will be sure to keep you soft and keep that sixpack under cover (a cover of fat). Aim to solve these bad habits and you'll notice your body will begin to shed the fat.
Eating Low Fat, But Not Counting Calories - So you eat low fat, but still overeat. This is a surefire way to pack on the pounds. Regardless if you're eating low fat or full-fat foods, you need to count your calories.
Going It Alone - If you're struggling with nutrition or exercise, reach-out to your fit friends or hire a professional for an hour or two.
Improper Sleep - Sleeping too little or too much can affect your weight. Aim for 6-8 hours of sleep per night to keep your body from counteracting poor sleep by storing up fat.
Eating Free Chips & Biscuits - Many restaurants offer free appetizers like chips and salsa or butter biscuits. These foods are typically loaded with fat and sodium. Don't eat them and save yourself some inches.
Drinking Soda (Even Diet) - Sugar soda is a no-brainer - it's empty calories that end up on your thighs. Diet soda has been linked to an imbalance in blood PH and also to appetite triggers causing you to eat more at your next meal. Drink your water!
Skipping Meals - We want our metabolism to be charing full-steam-ahead all day long. Skipping meals can cause our body to slow down and store energy for later. Eat 5-6 times per day.
Watching TV, Playing Games and Surfing the Web - Plain and simple, you need to get off of your butt and exercise. When you're sitting in front of the tv or computer, you're probably also snacking.
Going to the buffet - Nothing worse than an endless supply of un-healthy food. Skip the buffet and go to a traditional restaurant that has healthy options.
Eating off of huge plates - My dad used to have a trick and order a small sundae in a large dish at dairy queen. They couldn't help but fill it up all the way and then he'd only pay for a small. Same goes with your plate. Bigger the plate, the more food you can fit on it! Use a smaller plate and eat less calories.
Not Drinking Water - Drinking water helps the kidneys and liver function properly which aids in burning fat. Not drinking water is hindering your body's natural fat burning mechanisms.
Eating Late - If you're not exercising you should not be eating late at night.
