Coffee often times gets a bad rap for its caffeine content. People usually always seem to be talking about how they need to quit or cut down on the number of cups of coffee they consume. However, coffee has been proven to offer many other health benefits aside from preventing you from falling asleep at the wheel. Below are a few health benefits of drinking coffee.

Coffee Can Help Prevent Diabetees

It has been show that coffee can help lower blood glucose levels - which may help prevent diabetes. This glucose lowering property has been correlated to people who drink up to 7 cups of coffee daily.

Coffee Can Reduce Gout

Coffee has been show to lower uric acid levels in the body - which is what gout is.

Coffee May Be Beneficial for the following medical conditions:

Blood pressure. Results from long-term studies are showing that coffee may not increase the risk for high blood pressure over time, as previously thought.

Cancer. Coffee might have anti-cancer properties. Last year, researchers found that coffee drinkers were 50% less likely to get liver cancer than nondrinkers. A few studies have found ties to lower rates of colon, breast, and rectal cancers.

Parkinson's disease. Coffee seems to protect men, but not women, against Parkinson's disease. One possible explanation for the sex difference may be that estrogen and caffeine need the same enzymes to be metabolized, and estrogen captures those enzymes.
