When trying to stick to a healthy nutrition plan, your core meals are usually pretty easy to plan and adhere to. However it is typically the snacking part of your day that will get you into trouble. Below you will find a list of high protein snacks that you can whip up in a pinch. The quicker and easier the snack, the more likely you will be to consume it during the day.
Protein Bars You always need to have a box of protein bars stashed in your pantry. I would recommend the Optimum Nutrition Protein Diet Bars (see review here) If all else fails and you need a snack they will be there ready for you to eat. Protein bars have a long shelf-life which makes them perfect for a last-ditch effort healthy snack.
Cottage Cheese and Fruit Cottage cheese is high in protein and fruit provides tons of vitamis, minerals and fiber. Simply top ½ cup cottage cheese with ½ cup of your favorite fruit.
Beef or Turkey Jerky Turkey and beef jerky are great go-to snacks. I will typically eat these when traveling and we have to stop at a gas station. Most jerky is loaded with protein and low in fat so if you match t his with some Muscle Milk or even a Powerade Zero, your gas station stop won't totally bust your gut.
Hard-Boiled Eggs This inexpensive snack is a life saver. Simply boil 4-6 eggs on Sundays and pop them in the fridge. Hard boiled eggs will keep for about a week meaning you'll have a go-to snack ready and waiting when the time comes. I like to prepare my eggs with a little salt and pepper. If you're adventurous you can take an empty jar of pickles (just the juice) and throw in 6 eggs, put it in the fridge for 3 weeks and have pickled eggs - sounds strange, but us Norwegians love them. Never boiled eggs? Watch this tutorial on how to hard boil eggs perfectly.
Protein Shake If you don't have a tub of protein powder, go get one NOW! Protein powder is just like a protein bar whereas you can always use it as a fall-back snack.
These are just a few quick and easy high protein snacks. There are endless options, but if you're like me, you don't want to cook all the time and dirty up a bunch of dishes which makes these options quick and painless.
