Lean Beef is a very common high-protein food that can be a staple on many meal plans. Steak is easy enough to prepare, but there are a few tips you can use to make it taste even better!
Thaw Slowly If you freeze your steaks you want to be sure to thaw your steak slowly in the refrigerator and NOT in the microwave. Thawing in the microwave can cause the muscle fibers in the meat to shorten and make for a tougher steak. It will typically take 24 hours to thaw, so plan ahead if you want a tender steak.
Time Your Seasoning Season your steak about 15 minutes prior to throwing it on the grill. This will give the salts a change to dissolve and disperse evenly throughout your meat.
One Flip - Flipping a steak dries it out by letting the juices escape. Aim to flip your steak one time only. Use tongs so you can gently pick up your steak and flip it. Using a spatula or a big fork will let more juice escape. Handle your steak with care!
Let it Rest - Letting your steak rest after it's finished cooking for 5-10 minutes will let the juices distribute back into the meat providing you with an even juicier steak. This also works when grilling chicken breast.
Use these four tips when grilling and you'll have a better tasting, juicier steak than ever before!
