In August of 2013 MusclePharm changed the formula of their already best-of-class pre-workout supplement Assault. They are promoting this new formulation as a #gamechanger and #hypeisreal so I was definitely anxious to give it a try. While I would say It did not blow my socks off, but it was definitely good. I had crazy amounts of endurance and great focus. I didn't feel that tingle or huge energy kick, but that is fine. I actually increased my sets of 12 bench by 15 lbs going from 210 for 4 sets of 12 to 225 for 4 sets of 12.
The new formulation of Assault claims to set itself apart from the rest of the pack by employing Nitrates. They have attached nitrates to the arginine, creatine and BCAAs which is supposed to increase the absorption and utilization of these substances by the body. More of the good stuff gets absorbed means better gains and endurance.
