This is my review of the MusclePharm Get Swole Workout Program - Phase 1, Week 2, Day 8 - Chest & Back - full workout video is below the summary.
After 3 full days of rest, I was primed and ready to take-on the chest and back routine again. I spent some time during my off days throughly reading through the program and watching all of the videos to see if I could pick-up on any tips from Cory Gregory. One thing that he mentioned is that when doing the super sets, you need to take as little rest as possible. In the video he says complete your second set of the super set, go get a drink and get ready to start the next set. The first time I did this workout I believe I rested for around 1:45 - this time it was about 30 seconds - enough time to write down the sets in my log, grab a drink and then shake it out. However even with a shorter rest period, I still added 5 lbs to each exercise (10 lbs on my rows) and managed to beat my pull-up numbers and complete all of the reps on the other exercises (only got 10 on the last set of bench though).
My incline db presses were a tad light, but I still want to ease into these as this is one exercise that puts pressure on the tear in my rotator cuff. Although I did not feel any pain this time, I kept the weight at 45 lbs and will attempt to increase it again next week. I did get interrupted by my 1-year old daughter and had to take about a 12-minute break in order to get her some food and calm her down. After she dominated an entire gerber graduates meal and a whole sippy cup of milk I was able to complete my last 5 super sets of pull-ups and flys and then the dumbbell pull-overs. Overall, I felt very good, very strong and rested.
