Healthy diet coupled with regular exercise is the foundation of fat loss. However, when does it become too much? How can you tell if you have pushed your body to the limit and beyond where your exercise begins to have a negative impact on your results instead of helping them? Overtraining is a controversial topic, but it is real and if you are not careful, it can affect you negatively in and out of the gym.

How To Tell If You Are Overtraining.

Appetite Loss
Training too hard can stimulate your body to release epinephrine and norepinephrine which can both cause your body to naturally suppress appetite.

Joint Pain and Extreme Muscle Soreness
Do your joints hurt and are your muscles constantly sore with no sign of recovery? This could be a sign of training too hard before your muscles have had time to properly recover. Muscle and joint breakdown can result in extreme aching and could lead to injury.

You're Not At Your Best
Did you bench press more two weeks ago than you did today? Are you having a hard time getting through workouts you once crushed? This is another sign that you could be overtraining. Your muscles are not growing and instead breaking down to too much use!

Frequently Sick
If you find yourself getting colds or respritory conditions, this could be a sign you're hitting it too hard. When your body gets fatigued your immune system can break down and make you more susceptible to illness.

Bottom Line: Proper rest and recovery are important in order to keep your gains increasing and your health in-check!
