According to new studies, sleep deprivation has been shown to make people more likely to eat unhealthy foods. We already know that your muscles grow while at rest and a full night sleep is important for optimal recovery. About The Study

Scientists from St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center and Columbia University in New York examined people's brains while they stared at pictures of healthy and unhealthy foods.

According to the study, the 25 participants were of average weight and had had either five nights of four hours of sleep or five nights of regular sleep. The well-rested participants received nine hours of sleep per night.

“Our data strongly suggests that if you're trying to control your weight, being sleep-deprived is not good for you,” said study researcher Marie-Pierre St-Onge of the New York Obesity Researcher Center, according to msnbc.com.
