If you're new to the supplement world, don't watch for sales, or buy the same stack over and over, this post is for you. I'm going to quickly talk about a few popular supplements and the price you should look for when purchasing.

Pre-workout Supplements - Never pay more than $1/serving. Most popular supplements will be at or below this price point. When you find a good deal you can even find it as low as $.75/serving (like I got Cellucor C4 60 servings for $45 once) Bodybuilding.com also just came out with their own line of supplements and I just ordered (June 2012) a [bb-link url="http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/bodybuilding-supplements/build-no.html" text="40-serving size of their Build N.O. pre workout for $16.99]. That's under $.50/scoop! The jury is still out on it though because i have not got it delivered yet as i write this post.

Whey Protein - I aim for around $.50/scoop (where a scoop contains at a minimum of 20g protein). Sometimes this is hard to come by and I'll end up paying more - but any time you're paying over $50 or $60 bucks for 80 servings, you're paying too much (unless you're a competitive body builder and have a very specific nutrient profile you're shooting for)! I typically try to pay no more than $42 for a 5lb tub of whey (which puts me at about $.52 1/2 cents per scoop).

Post-Workout Supplements (Blended Creatine & Glutamine) - Never pay more than $1/serving. I love [bb-link url="http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/bsn/cell.html" text="BSN's Cellmass] and can get a 50-serving tub for $35 - which puts me at $.70/scoop.

As with all supplements, make sure to read the labels. There are times where you can go above these price points when the quality of the product is substantially higher than the competition. It's all about personal preference, but the price points outlined above can get you started with some quality supplements and if you've never purchased supplements before, you'll have a frame of reference to go on.
