I recently got my hands on some Power Shock from VPX - an amino "Nitrate Matrix" supplement. The use of nitrates is proliferating the supplement industry and I am predicting we will see more and more supplements start to tout the use of nitrates in their supplements. The idea is that by adding a nitrate compound to the amino acids, it will increase Nitric Oxide in the blood, make the molecule more stable, and increase overall absorption. I have not taken any supplements with nitrates for an extended period of time, so this review is mainly on the taste and mixability of VPX Power Shock.
I was pleased with Power Shock. It mixed fine and tasted ok. I would not say it is an all-encompassing fruit punch flavor, but it was decent. It did have a slight aftertaste. One nice thing is it appears they did not use any dyes as it mixed up pretty clear.
