Question: I am on a 4 day per week workout routine. What should I do on my rest day?
Answer A rest day is just that - a day to REST. If it is your rest or "off" day you should not be in the gym, you should not just do a "light" workout. Your muscles need time to repair themselves and grow so a rest day should be a time for this. If you are an active individual you can just go about your daily activities. If your friends go out on a bike ride or roller blading, go ahead and tag along. You may also want to go for a 30-45 minute walk. Whatever you do, keep it light and not too strenuous.
Unless you are a professional athlete or a very elite athlete (Say Crossfit's Rich Froning) you can get by with fewer rest days as the body is already trained and conditioned to this type of work and does not need as much time to repair. However for the average person trying to get ripped and kick some ass, give your muscles a bit of a break on your rest day.
